NAACO Gallery celebrates the metal sculpture of Katie Richardson and ceramic sculpture of Joshua Primmer in an exhibition entitled, "Sheltered".

The work in this exibition portrays Richardson's ideas of home and belonging, exploring protective nests and nooks, intimate spaces and forms that shield; Primmer's sculptures showcase his interest in architecture, both from reality and from scifi and fantasy, and his daily forays into the natural world.

Katie Richardson creates sculptures from welded steel, combined with elements of flameworked glass. These materials lend themselves to an implied dialogue around strength and fragility as she uses them in ways that are structural but primarily organic.

Joshua Primmer at the kilnJoshua Primmer creates both functional and sculptural work and everything in between from forms thrown on the wheel, assembled, and reduction fired to cone 10 (2381 degrees Farenheit). The process is accentuated by creating forms and joining shapes that could have been made on a lathe. The surfaces emulate the effects of nature on mankind’s constructs; oxidized metal, weathered concrete and stone, moss, and lichen.
